763 ACOUSTIC GUITAR AND MUSIC THEORY II
Grade Level: 9-12
Will meet the graduation requirement for FINE ARTS or ELECTIVE
This course will provide students with a thorough understanding of music theory and will give guitar instruction for “Level 3”and “Level 4” guitarists.
Level 3: Student has been playing a while and can play some songs or instrumentals without too much difficulty. Students now move into specific styles, develop their repertoire, and increase their technique. The instructor still covers the material in detail but there are more challenges.
Level 4: The student has good technique and a working knowledge of the instrument but needs to break out of patterns and move to more advanced material. Instruction at this level should push the student into new areas, develop confidence and a deeper musical understanding so they can begin to improvise.
This course also aims to develop an appreciation for different styles of music (fingerstyle guitar, Celtic, bluegrass, blues, etc.
Prerequisite: Student must supply acoustic guitar
