This course provides the student with the opportunity to examine chronological development of the American people by examining those political, geographic, economic, social, religious, technological, demographic and cultural factors that have affected the rise and growth of our nation. The first semester will address the development of democracy from the efforts of the thirteen colonies to the Civil War. The second semester will focus on the political, social and economic development of the United States in the 20th century.
